Bible Reading for December 19 2023

“Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you beforehand”. Matthew 24:23-25 NKJV

No one knows when Jesus will return to earth but beware that He is coming soon and will appear as lightning that will flash across the entire sky (Matthew 24:27). Fake “christs” and untrue prophets will abound, as highlighted in the book of Matthew. Be cautious of such impostors deceiving people to be the faithful Christ. The Bible says you shall know them by their deeds: Matthew 7:16. Similarly, Matthew 7:20 emphasizes identifying such false prophets by their fruits; “therefore by their fruits you will know them” (NKJV). In other words, they come in sheep’s clothing, but are “ravenous wolves” (Matthew 7:15). A good Prophet, Overseer, or Leader of a church should not be greedy for money but care for the members. “For a bishop must be blameless, as a steward of God, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money” Titus 1:7 NKJV. As Stewards, do not demand money from members before you do signs and wonders (miracles) or even pray for believers. There should not be payment of consultation fees when one desires to consult a church leader for any issue bothering or concerning one’s life. Jesus never took money from anyone. The offerings and tithes the members pay to the church are sufficient. Believers in Christ should beware of and shun false prophets. Read Matthew 24:1-51 for further details on signs of the times and the end of the age, the tribulation, the coming of Jesus, the nature of His appearance, the parable of the fig tree, and who a faithful servant and evil servant is.
